Questions
Does it cost a shop anything to join?
No joining fee. A shop funds only the discount it agrees to give, up to a monthly cap it sets itself.
What happens when a shop's monthly cap is reached?
The offer pauses itself until the next month. Before that point, if there is less left in the cap than a bill would use, the customer gets what is left and is told so on their screen before they submit — the shop never funds more than its cap.
Can I buy coins?
No. Coins come with a membership and cannot be bought separately. Whether selling coins for cash would make Countr a prepaid payment instrument under RBI rules is an open question we are not going to answer by guessing, so we do not sell them at all.
Do coins expire?
Yes. Each grant has a validity period, shown in the app, and we warn you 30 days and 7 days before. Expired coins are not refunded.
Is the discount rounded up or down?
Down, always, to a whole rupee. 10% of a ₹999.99 bill is ₹99, not ₹100. You are never charged a coin you did not receive, and the shop never funds a rupee it did not agree to.
Does Countr handle my payment?
No. You pay the shop directly, less the discount. No money passes through Countr — which is deliberate, because collecting payment on a shop's behalf would require RBI authorisation as a payment aggregator.
What do you do with my phone number?
We use it to sign you in and to contact you about your membership. Marketing messages are a separate consent you can switch off in the app at any time. You can delete your account yourself, in the app.
There are no shops near me.
Then the app will tell you so, and tell you how far the nearest one is, rather than showing you an empty list. It will also ask which shop you would like to see on Countr. That list is what we act on.
